Feeling the burn . . . Alexandra Fire Brigade firefighter Scott Garmonsway and Pulse Fitness RPM instructor Camille O’Connor (left) lead a fitness cycling class at Pulse Fitness last week.
Mr Garmonsway and fellow Alexandra firefighters Sam Malcolm, Jason Galbraith, Kevin Malcolm and Mitchell Stringer, from Macraes Emergency Response Team, completed the RPM class in full kit as part of a fundraising effort for the Sky Tower Stair Challenge next month.
The class was tough but great fun, Mr Garmonsway said.
“Pulse Fitness was amazing and got us all through the whole 45-minute class. With all our oxygen running out around the 20-minute mark we took off the our masks and carried battling on through it,” he said.
“The online donations are slowly starting to flow in and we collected around $200 on the night.”
Proceeds are going to Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand, which supports patients with those conditions and their families.
