Dunstan High School’s Dunstanza choir continues to hit the right notes.

Following the Big Sing at the Dunedin Town Hall last month, Dunstanza has been selected to compete at the Big Sing Cadenza Competition.

Dunstanza was named one of the top 12 South Island choirs in the Big Sing regional competitions last month.

Part of the the New Zealand Choral Festival, the Big Sing is one of the country’s largest secondary school events, with 10,000 pupils taking part.

Cadenza is dubbed the “next best thing to the Big Sing Finale” and enables 36 choirs from throughout New Zealand to experience a finale-style event, along with workshops with an international choral conductor.

The two-day event concludes with a public gala concert, allowing all the choirs to showcase an item from their Cadenza repertoire and to sing together music rehearsed with the international conductor.

This is the first time Dunstanza has been selected for Cadenza. It performs in Timaru next month.
