Bragging rights have been claimed in the inaugural Highlands go-kart primary school challenge.

Cromwell Primary School won the event on Monday, last week, beating Goldfields Primary School in a series of races between 100 year 6 children.

Highlands chief operating officer Josie Spillane said the event was designed to be a fun, end-of-year activity and a chance to bring the children together before making their move to high school next year.

Each pupil drove in a 10 minute race. Those with the top five fastest times from both schools made it into the finals. The fastest boy was Toby Sentch, of Cromwell Primary School, and the fastest girl was Georgie Adams, of Goldfields Primary School.
