Cavalcade comes to town

Patearoa was abuzz last Saturday with wagons, walkers, cyclists and horses, as the 28th Goldfields Cavalcade came to town.

A parade filled with people who had taken part in 12 trails from across the region took a tour around the town as a local audience cheered them on. Then it was time for food, music, market stalls and evening entertainment for the weary travellers.

Horsepower of a different kind was also on display as Gordon Souness, of Patearoa, showed visitors and locals his 1926-27 Ford Model T. Reporter Simon Henderson captured some of the fun from the day’s events.
