A call has been made for Otago and Southland businesses to join the new Southern Heroes network and help the under-pressure health sector cope with the Omicron outbreak.
Wanaka’s chamber of commerce, Ignite Wanaka, has joined the Business South initiative, along with other Otago and Southland chambers.
Businesses and communities can give time to help the Southern District Health Board and other providers with non-clinical, non-contact tasks.
Business South chief executive Mike Collins said the business sector was also under immense strain, “but for those who are able to, we want to rally businesses and communities in the South to support the heroes in our health system who are on the frontlines of this outbreak”.
