Call for mining tales

SHARE

Local history enthusiasts are encouraged to share their goldmining tales at the Australasian Mining History Association Conference, to be held in Cromwell in October.
Historian and author Dr Lloyd Carpenter will speak at the conference, and encouraged people to submit stories that could become 20-minute presentations.
‘‘I’d love to see some locals to participate and speak.
‘‘I often find local people have done their own research into ancestors, or into the land.’’
Dr Carpenter was willing to give advice to help people submit an abstract, which only had to be a single page in length, he said.
‘‘My goal is to basically take an area that I have been passionate about since I was a young lad, and bring it into more people’s view.
‘‘The history is just everywhere — you can see it.’’
