Cromwell residents were able to observe the handiwork of local builder Derek Craig, who has gone over and above for a Dunedin boy who is recovering from recent life-changing leg surgery received in the United States.

Mr Craig has built two container homes which have been pre-sold and the $100,000 proceeds have been given to the parents of 4-year-old Harry Finch for surgery and travel costs.

The youngster was born with spastic diplegia cerebral palsy in his leg muscles.

The builds were on display for residents in Cromwell as builders on the project added finishing touches.

Mr Craig is pictured with Harry on his shoulders at the weekend.
