A bridge providing access to the remote Central Otago township of St Bathans is expected to take a further two months to complete.
Bridge 84, which crosses Station Creek on Loop Rd, is being replaced – a job that started in December last year.
Motorists can still access the area.
Central Otago District Council infrastructure services executive assistant Anne Tyree said “all things going well”, the project was expected to be completed in about July.
The bridge required attention due to wear and tear over the years.
“Flooding and water damage over time has compromised the bridge’s structure and for safety reasons it will be replaced.”
She urged people take extra care in the area during that time.
“With the new layout and roadwork activity in the area, it is very important that motorists take care and slow down.
“The road is narrow and is windy in parts so drivers need to pay particular attention to the safety signage and road conditions,” she said.
“We appreciate the community’s patience and are committed to getting this essential work done as quickly and efficiently as possible.”Authentic Nike SneakersUpdated Air Jordan Sneaker Releases for 2021
