Wood burners — how to use them properly

SHARE
If you use a wood burner to heat your home, ensure you use it properly. – Burn only seasoned, dry wood. – Do not burn rubbish of any kind. – Do not damp down your fireovernight. Reducing the air in your firebox makes your fire smoulder and creates too much smoke. – Get your fire burning hot quickly by preparing it with plenty of paper and dry kindling. – Do not burn coal — it produces more harmful pollutants than wood and can damage burners designed for wood only. – Do not burn logs of more than 150mm in diameter.
