Decorating made easy

The team at Central Colourplus in Alexandra can inspire and guide you through your home decoration journey.
From a stone cottage to a new build, the team of specialised and experienced consultants from Central Colourplus is on hand to make your redecorating project as stress-free as possible.
Situated in the heart of Alexandra, the Tarbert St business is now under the helm of owners Grant and Dawn Sutherland, who have bought it from Valerie and Murray Evans and began operating from August 1.
Dawn says while she and Grant ‘‘have huge shoes to fill’’, Central Colourplus clients will not notice much change as the pair are backed by their long-standing, experienced and exceptional staff — interior design and colour consultant Vicki Keen and curtain and colour consultant Mal Fallow.
‘‘Vicki and Mal are happy to continue with us in the new company and train us in all aspects of the Colourplus brand,’’ she says.
‘‘The good, old-fashioned, friendly service this business is known for will not change. We believe going the extra mile for our customers is the norm, rather than the exception.’’
As new owners she and Grant were excited to be part of the Colourplus brand which could offer not only competitive prices but plenty of support and backup including free quotes, colour consultations and drape and blind repair services.
‘‘Any refurbishment, whether it be a stone cottage, sleepout or a brand new home, involves huge decisions. At Central Colourplus we have hundreds of fabric samples that are up to date and reflect new fashion trends. Vicki and Mal are here to help fulfil our clients’ wishes,’’ Dawn says.
‘‘There is no right or wrong in design. Everyone has their own personal choice and preference and it does not always have to follow the latest fashion.
‘‘In some cases, tying a picture together might be as simple as the addition of a throw or cushion.’’
Colourplus fabrics are sourced from around the world including countries such as Turkey, Europe and South Africa.
‘‘We are able to stock fabric appropriate to the Central Otago lifestyle. We are noticing a trend here toward earthy, natural colours — Central colours,’’ Vicki says.
‘‘Having said that, there is also a bit of retro coming through with people liking geometric bright designs in some living spaces such as bedrooms.
Grant says the Central Colourplus team can also help with outdoor living requirements.
‘‘Many Central Otago people have a lot of space for outdoor living which can require protection from the elements such as wind and sun.
‘‘We aim to introduce an outdoor display in the shop and can advise on awnings, blinds, and screens.’’
‘‘Products from Luxaflex, including awnings, are some of the popular window treatments available at Central Colour Plus and during spring there are offers such as free curtain-making and specials on selected blinds.’’
Grant says the store also has all kinds of tools and accessories for the home decorator, with everything from brushes and rollers through to papering tools.
The centrally located shop stocks whatever you need for your walls and windows, from wallpapers to designer drapes, blinds, upholstery fabric and tiles.
