A group of young Maniototo artists have brightened the town of Ranfurly with their talent and enthusiasm, artists behind a youth initiative there say.
The Art Blast Youth Mural Project created a 30m mural that was painted on the wall of the Ranfurly Swimming Pool.
A workshop to design the mural was led by artists Maxine Williams, of Earnscleugh, and Aroha Novak, of Dunedin, in October, and the final outdoors mural was painted last month.
Ms Williams said she had been “amazed” by the “enthusiasm and energy” of the more than 45 young people involved in the project, which was commissioned by the Maniototo Community Arts Council.
Their art had “brightened” up the swimming pool area and their love for the Maniototo had really shown through, she said.
