Debbie Malcolm’s artistic impression of Late Autumn on the Manuherikia has caught the attention of judges at this year’s Blossom Festival Art Exhibition.
The artwork, which is created using liquid acrylic, secured Mrs Malcolm the title of supreme winner of this year’s exhibition, which is part of the Central Otago Art Society Art Awards.
Her prize included $2000. Mrs Malcolm has been painting for about 17 years and has exhibited at the Blossom Festival Art Exhibition for about 16.
Although she has won other prizes within the event, it is the first time she has been named supreme winner.
She said there were many aspects she enjoyed about creating art.
“I enjoy the challenge of it and I enjoy the pleasure that it brings to people.”
The exhibition, being hosted in the Alexandra Community Centre, also has a people’s choice award, which people can vote for up until 4pm tomorrow.
