Hard work is paying off for the cast and crew of this year’s Ranfurly Musical and Dramatic Society show, Treasure Island
The group, which includes a cast of 30, plus stage crew and a technical team, has opened the curtains on its latest production and has just two soldout performances left – one tomorrow and the final on Saturday.
Treasure Island, by Ben Crocker, is being directed by Lucia Dowling and Anne Kirk.
Feedback suggests the group knows what it is doing when it comes to providing great entertainment.
“A thoroughly entertaining production, with loads of laughs, great music and brilliant portrayal of characters by one and all.
“Awesome effort, well done to you all,” one member of the audience wrote.
Mrs Kirk said the performance provided the audience with “an action-packed adventure and a script and cast that are full of surprises”.
“When Mrs Hawkins [Heather Dowling] stumbles across a treasure map, she thinks this will be an answer to all her prayers,” Mrs Kirk said.
“She embarks on a journey to go treasure hunting in the Caribbean, the only trouble is that Pirate Leader Long John Silver [Alan Stuart] has his eye on the buried treasure for himself .. but he needs to find a crew of salty seadogs, and that’s where the ladies of the Smuggler’s Cove Women’s Institute join the story.”
The show will continue at the Ranfurly Town Hall until Saturday.
