Nesta Maaka (13) shows one of four murals created by school pupils as part of the Alexandra Youth Mural Project, which were unveiled outside the Molyneux Park public toilets on Tuesday afternoon.
The project involved the Central District Arts Trust, the Central Otago District Council and local funding bodies.
Artist Maxine Williams ran workshops for pupils who designed the murals, and they and members of the public painted them during the Thyme Festival in November.
Pupils from Alexandra Primary School, The Terrace School, St Gerard’s School and Clyde Primary School took part.
Each mural has Central Otago themes, such as the Alexandra clock, the four seasons, the Otago Central Rail Trail and aliens kidnapping a cow against a local landscape. The murals will be installed at the Alexandra BMX Club, Molyneux Park, Clyde Railway Station and Golden Block. PHOTO: YVONNE O’HARAbuy shoesnike fashion
