Santa’s helpers are busy working behind the scenes to make this Christmas one to remember in Alexandra.
The team at Puna Rangatahi has a range of events planned throughout December and now needs the public’s help to make it as festive as possible.
Between 3pm and 5pm today a decoration workshop will take place at Puna Rangatahi, behind Centrepoint Mall.
Youth coach Deb Drake said anyone from the age of 10 was welcome to help make decorations, which would be displayed in Santa’s Workshop, which will soon be on offer at Puna Rangatahi.
Donations or a loan of all things festive were also being accepted for the workshop, including decorations, lights, Christmas trees and wrapping paper.
“Anything really, that we could utilise,” Mrs Drake said.
Santa’s elves will be based in the workshop on December 19 to wrap gifts for the public during a community twilight market.
And Santa will make a special guest appearance at Puna Rangatahi on December 19 and 20 for photo sessions from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm, both days.
A “fur babies” photo event from10am to noon on December 21 will also be available to people who want to get a photo of their pet with Santa.
Bookings for the photo sessions were a must, Mrs Drake said.
Plans for the twilight market, taking place on December 19 from 6pm to 8pm, were also tracking well, she said.
The market will feature a range of stalls, including the Coffee Tin, which is a Central Otago Youth Council initiative, crafts and fun activities.
“Part of our twilight market is about inclusiveness of our community [to celebrate the] holiday spirit instead of just Christmas.”
