A documentary about plant based diets screening in Alexandra on Tuesday tells a personal story of heart attack and open heart surgery.
Producer Grant Dixon, of Auckland, said The Big Fat Lie investigated why he believed New Zealand’s public health policy didn’t warn people about the dangers of fat in their diet.
“The film also follows my journey, from heart attack and near open heart surgery to full health today.”
“As part of my story I interview seven kiwi professors, nine doctors, numerous health specialists and case
studies.
“I also seek interviews with the NZ Heart Foundation, the Cancer Society of NZ, Fonterra, Beef+Lamb NZ
and the Ministry of Health.”
All proceeds from the Alexandra screening will go towards The Terrace School.
