An annual event, the auction has been running for more than 10 years and this year featured the work of 70 artists from around New Zealand.
Pre-school administrator and auction co-organiser Lo Scurr said this year’s auction was supported by about 200 people.
Of the 165 works that went under the hammer, 115 were sold.
‘‘Art sales amounted to $60,000, and and while the final amount is not yet really known, the pre-school raised between $16,000 and $18,000,’’ Mrs Scurr said.
Paintings, photography, glassware, ceramics and photography were all displayed in the auction at The Venue on Orchard Rd.
Former pre-school senior teacher Annie Davies, the driving force behind the auction for the past 10 years, helped organise this year’s event but told The News it would be her last one.
